We will arrange your transportation from the airport to Fort George Hotel, where we will spend the first night. After settling into your room, you can explore the city or treat yourself to a spa treatment at the hotel.

After breakfast (not included), we will head to the Belize Zoo, where we’ll learn about Belize’s extraordinary wildlife, including tapirs (Belize’s national animal), jaguars, spider monkeys, and 17 of the nearly 600 species of birds found here! Founded in 1983, the Belize Zoo is the oldest wildlife rescue in the country and is dedicated to improving human-wildlife relationships through education and conservation programs. Next, we’ll continue our adventure with cave tubing at Nohoch Che’en, a system of limestone caves with a fascinating cultural history. Finally, we will settle into our rooms at the Green Valley Inn, where we will spend the next few nights.

Today will begin with a visit to Green Hills Butterfly Ranch, a 250-acre piece of rainforest that has been preserved and is home to around 30 species of butterfly, as well as jaguars, ocelots, anteaters, coatimundis, a wide variety of birds, and more! On our way to our next adventure, we’ll go ziplining through the rainforest, then continue to Barton Creek Cave for canoeing. Here, we’ll learn about the cave’s history as we paddle through refreshingly cool water beneath ancient stalactites.

Diving deeper into Maya history, today we will visit Xunantunich ruins, one of the most important archaeological sites in Belize. We’ll learn about its rich history as we explore the ancient structures, including the most famous and tallest pyramid, El Castillo. Next, we’ll wander through the vibrant streets of San Ignacio, the largest city in western Belize.

Embarking on our final adventure, today we’ll visit Caracol ruins, where the tomb of the city’s first known ruler was recently discovered. At 75 square miles, Caracol is the largest archaeological site in Belize and was extremely important in ancient Maya culture. After spending some time here, we’ll have a chance to cool off in the refreshing swimming holes of Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. With its dry, rocky landscape, pine forest, and cooler temperatures, it feels like stepping into another world! The reserve is also home to several impressive waterfalls, including Big Rock Falls and Rio on Pools.

After breakfast, we’ll head back to Belize City. If you are departing today, we will provide your transportation to the airport. If you joined the Belize Nature Immersion, we will have a free day in the city and spend the night here before continuing our adventure in the morning.
