Art Adventure Package

Collaboration with Port Angeles Fine Arts Center

Kayaking, Kelp, and Creativity!

8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Spend a day immersed in the beauty of nature and art with Elevate Outdoors and the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center! We’ll gather inspiration on a kayak tour in the morning, then spend the afternoon exploring the Fine Arts Center’s Kinship exhibition and creating seaweed gel prints.

The Adventure:

Begin your day with an awe-inspiring paddle through seagrass meadows and kelp beds along the shoreline of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, a perfect example of the impermanence and flow of nature. From cliffs weathered by wind and waves to the ever-changing landscape of the intertidal zone, this incredible ecosystem is in constant motion. You'll also have the opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife, including bald eagles soaring overhead, colorful sea stars and anemones below, and possibly even a curious seal or river otter!

The Art:

Join staff from the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center for an engaging afternoon exploring how nature can become an artistic medium. Participants will enjoy a private tour of the Esther Webster Gallery and experience the Kinship exhibition alongside PAFAC Gallery Curator Lindsey Shepherd.

Following the tour, Port Angeles Fine Arts Center education staff will lead a hands-on artmaking workshop using pressed seaweed. Participants will learn about the process of collecting and pressing seaweed and will be introduced to the art of gel printing to create unique seaweed impressions. Each participant will leave with an original gel print artwork ready for display, or framing.
